Three types of odds — three forms of the same price
Decimal, fractional and American — all three formats express the same probability, only the way they are written differs.
Example 1 — Odds on Team A winning (stake ৳500)
Decimal 2.50 means a total return of 2.5 times your stake. Fractional 3/2 means ৳3 profit for every ৳2 bet. American +150 means ৳150 profit on a ৳100 bet.
Example 2 — Team B the favourite (stake ৳500)
American minus odds (-400) show how much you need to stake to make ৳100 profit — in this case ৳400. A favourite means lower odds and a lower return.
Multi bet and betting exchange — a bit more complex, but popular
In a multi bet, if three selections have decimal odds of 1.40, 1.60 and 1.80, the combined odds are 1.40 × 1.60 × 1.80 = 4.03 (approximately). So a ৳100 bet returns ৳403 if all win — but if even one loses, the full ৳100 is gone.
On a betting exchange at decimal 2.00, if you BACK Team A — a ৳500 stake returns ৳500 profit if Team A wins, and you lose ৳500 if they lose. If you LAY Team A, you receive ৳500 if Team A does not win; if Team A wins, you pay ৳500 (liability ৳500). Commission may apply.

Pre-match vs live betting — know the difference
Pre-match betting means placing a bet before the match starts. Odds are generally stable at this stage and all markets are open. Placing a bet the night before a BPL match from Dhaka falls into this category.
Live betting is done while the match is in progress. Odds change quickly with every ball or event. A wicket falling or a goal being scored is immediately reflected in the odds.
